Phillip Phillips has impressed this season, and his blend of his old school aura and youth led judge Steven Tyler to brand him a "Steve McQueen, Johnny Cash kind of guy."

Unfortunately, Phillips' take on Maroon 5's Give a Little More left judges Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson wanting … well, a little more.

It wasn't all gloom and doom for the remaining seven Wednesday: Colton Dixon's soul-drenched rendition of Eminem's Love the Way You Lie had Tyler telling him he was studio-ready; Joshua Ledet's frenetic take on Bruno Mars's Runaway Baby earned him the coveted standing O from the judges; and Elise Testone delivered a solid version of Lady Gaga's You and I that had Jackson proclaiming, "America, Elise is back!"

Someone's getting eliminated when American Idol's 11th season continues Thursday at 8/7c on Fox.
