After thunderous applause, Kingston kept his remarks brief, saying: “Thanks Tyra. Thanks everybody.. not just for the welcome, but for all the love I felt from so many of you guys the past few months.  Trust me, I will never forgot all your thoughts and prayers. I love you guys. God bless.

Kingston and Banks then presented the Choice Music Male Artist Award to Justin Bieber.

As has previously reported, Kingston was nearly killed on May 29 in Miami Beach, Florida, when his jet ski crashed under a small bridge, injuring both him and his female passenger.

The Beautiful Girls singer recently told MTV News: "A lot of people don't know it was a deeper situation … I had open heart surgery and I had two other surgeries."

He also plans to get back to work and release new music by the end of 2011.
