With Lady Gaga as a guest on her show Thursday, Ellen DeGeneres makes a grand entrance, coming out on a giant shoe, surrounded by four beefcake dancers.

Gaga, who famously showed up to this year's Grammys in a giant egg, jokingly took issue with Ellen's grand entrance, saying she felt like the talk show host was "trying to out do" her.

"I've never done the shoe," Gaga said.

"If you did a shoe, it would be a better shoe than mine," Ellen replied.

"I liked the shoe," Gaga said. "It was very unexpected -- I like unexpected."

"Thank you," Ellen said. "I am influenced and inspired by you, but I don't think I'll ever try and compete with you.”

Gaga joked that next time she appears on Ellen's show, she's "wearing jeans, sneakers and is going to dance all around her stage."
