Adrienne Maloof and her husband Dr. Paul Nassif are two of Charlie Sheen's closest friends. They even hosted his wedding to Brooke Mueller at their fabulous Beverly Hills estate. Now in an exclusive interview with RadarOnline.com, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star talks about her friend's decision to enter rehab, and the 911 call her husband made that got Charlie to the hospital last Thursday.

"We are encouraging him to stay in rehab and our love and support is with him," Adrienne tells RadarOnline.com exclusively. "He's obviously going through a tough time and you just have to be there as a friend. You can't turn your back on a friend so we're here to support him.

"Hopefully he gets through this."

Sheen did not go into rehab Friday as his rep had previously stated.

Instead, he was still fighting the idea.  Late Friday afternoon, he even emailed RadarOnline.com saying, "I'm fine" and asked the question, "Guy can't have a great time and do his job also?"

It took another 24 hours to convince him otherwise.

RadarOnline.com has confirmed that he finally began a program "at an undisclosed location" sometime late Saturday.

Sheen's life had been spinning out of control for months, and finally crashed just after 6 am Thursday when he was in intense pain after nearly 72 hours of non-stop partying that included cocaine and porn stars at his home.  That's when one of Charlie's friends called Adrienne's husband, Dr. Paul Nassif for help.

"We were told Charlie had some stomach pains and we immediately said to call 911. My husband then hung up the phone and called 911 himself to make sure that they got there in a good amount of time because he was obviously in a lot of pain.

"However, my husband did not want to diagnose him. He wanted to make sure Charlie got the proper diagnoses and the proper care."

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, the Two And A Half Men star was taken by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

One friend of Sheen's insisted he was hospitalized for a hernia, aggravated when he laughed too hard while watching television.

RadarOnline.com has also exclusively revealed that Sheen, 45, was anemic with an elevated white blood cell count and dehydrated. Sheen was released from the hospital Thursday night after being treated for what doctors suspect was an ulceration.

"He's our family's very close friend," Adrienne adds. "We care about him and wish him much success and hopefully he gets through this. We're here to support him."
