VIDEO: New York Jets Coach Who Tripped Player Suspended, Fined

New York Jets strength coach Sal Alosi has been fined $25,000, and suspended by the team without pay for the remainder of this season and playoffs, after admittedly tripping Miami Dolphins cornerback Nolan Carroll during the team's loss Sunday.

“I let everybody down yesterday with my actions,’’ Alosi said during a news conference Monday, prior to his suspension being handed down. “My actions were inexcusable and irresponsible ... I wasn’t thinking.’’

Miami Head Coach Tony Sparano said he didn't like what happened "because someone could have gotten hurt." (Caroll was not injured on the play.)

Football legend Mike Ditka told ESPN Monday that he felt Alosi was already punished, and didn't deserve to be fired.

General Manager Mike Tannenbaum said the team will "take full responsibility" and "hold Sal accountable for his actions.”
