Charles Manson Pen Pal Returns To Court In Fight For Killer's Remains

Charles Manson's corpse has been on ice in a California morgue for almost two months, and it will remain there for at least the next few weeks, according to new legal documents exclusively obtained by RadarOnline.com.

On Jan. 8, Manson's prison pen pal, Michael Channels, who insists he was named the beneficiary of the sociopath's estate and has the right to his body, appeared before a judge during a hearing at the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles to continue his fight.

As RadarOnline.com reported, Manson's corpse is currently at California's Kern County morgue while five people battle for control of it.

So far, Manson's grandson, Jason Freeman, 41, two prison pen pals and two others say the cult leader's body belongs to them.

Channels, 52, of Santa Clarita, said he has Manson's will, allegedly penned in 2002, which left everything to him.

However, according to the minutes from the latest hearing on the case, the court ruled Channels must file a new petition requesting Manson's remains.

A new hearing has been set for Jan. 26.

If he's successful, Channels hopes to cremate Manson's body and spread the ashes in the desert.

Manson, who was suffering from colon cancer, died on Nov. 19 at age 83 of heart failure .
