‘Very Disappointing!’ ‘The Interview’ Star Charles Chun Reacts To Controversial Film Being Pulled By Sony

Sony Pictures Entertainment has officially pulled the plug on the Christmas debut of the much-anticipated film The Interview. Now that the film will never see the light of day, Charles Chun, who plays General Jong in the film, is speaking out exclusively to RadarOnline.com about the cast’s disappointment.

“I cannot speak for everyone, but my sense is that we made a great film, we had so much fun doing it, audiences loved it at the preview and it is very disappointing that audiences who we made this film for are not going to be able to enjoy it the way it was intended,” Chun tells RadarOnline.com.

“I feel like this is North Korea’s fear intimidating our freedom and I hope we as an entertainment community and as a free society learn the lessons to really protect our free way of life so that we are not intimated again,” Chun adds.

Sony released a statement following reports that North Korea was, indeed, responsible for the hacking that reads: “Those who attacked us stole our intellectual property, private emails, and sensitive and proprietary material, and sought to destroy our spirit and our morale — all apparently to thwart the release of a movie they did not like.”

They confirmed Wednesday that there are no plans to release the film, in any format, ever.

“I think that North Korea is so fearful that they probably paid whatever they had to pay to people with the technological expertise to hack into Sony,” Chun tells RadarOnline.com. “There is an entire class of North Koreans, millions, who are just dropping of starvation. Instead of using their resources to feed, nourish, educate and provide a healthy way of life for their own people, they put all of their money into their military budgets and into nuclear arms.”

When RadarOnline.com previously spoke to Chun, he said, “It is really an invasion of privacy on the part of the hackers, who are the responsible parties here. When you or I are talking to our intimate partners or family members, we are saying all sorts of stuff about people we love. To take it out of context and get known for it is really unfair. At the end the day it is a business.”

Chun still feels the same way, but adds, “North Korea’s rule and existence is really based on fear and intimidation. In North Korea you cannot say what you want. There is no freedom of speech. There is no freedom of religion. Fear and intimidation is how they suppress their people and to have those tactics work on our soil, well I am just very sad.”
