Iowa native Denise Stapley is $1 million richer after being named the show’s winner Sunday by a jury of her fellow contestants, tallying up six of eight votes in the final tribal council.
Denise, a 41-year-old sex therapist, outlasted two rivals — California bartender Michael Skupin and former Facts of Life star Lisa Whelchel — to capture the seven-figure bounty after 39 days in the Philippines.
“In Iowa, you can do a lot with this,” she joked after she was named the victor.

Whelchel, who kept her one-time fame under wraps to her castmates, was named Sprint’s Player of the Season, getting a $100,000 bonus for the honors.
Retired baseball slugger Jeff Kent was another celeb featured on this season’s installment of the rugged program.
The next installment of Survivor will pit fans vs. favorites; it debuts February 13 on CBS.
