One day after Prince was discovered dead in his Minnesota compound's elevator, authorities have released the shocking 911 call placed by the singer's panicked friend.

"We have someone who is unconscious," the caller claimed. "And the people are just distraught."

Adding to the confusion, the friend initially did not know the star's address for his sprawling Paisley Park estate, which also includes a music studio. He first thought the home was in Minneapolis, but it's actually about a half hour away from the city.

"You're at Paisley Park, okay, that's in Chanhassen," the dispatcher responded. "Are you with the person who's…"

The caller immediately confirmed that the victim was indeed the music icon.

"Yes, it's Prince!" he said.

When first responders arrived, they discovered a grim scene. Tragically, the 57-year-old legend had already died.

"Yea Kayley, this is Shirley at Ridgeview, you can cancel anybody going to Audobon, confirmed DOA," she said.

As RadarOnline.com extensively reported, Prince's sudden death came on the heels of an illness that led him to cancel two Atlanta concerts and make an emergency flight landing for treatment.

The singer had suffered from a variety of health problems over the years, including epilepsy, chronic pain and possible drug use.

However, a former bodyguard insisted to RadarOnline.com that the star avoided drugs and alcohol.
