Another crazy excuse— or a scary medical crisis?

Leah Messer has been adamant that drug abuse was not behind the bad mom behavior that led her to lose custody of her twin daughters. Now, the Teen Mom 2 star, 23, is claiming a dangerous sleep disorder was truly to blame.

In a recent tell-all interview with Us Weekly, the mother of three said her secret battle with narcolepsy hindered her ability to bring 5-year-old twins Ali and Aleeah to school on time last year.

Over the weekend, a fan slammed Messer, claiming she lied about struggling with narcolepsy.

She immediately responded via Twitter.

"It's very serious," she posted on October 31. "They are still doing the testing. They are pretty sure that's what I have."

According to the Mayo Clinic, narcolepsy is a chronic sleep disorder "characterized by overwhelming daytime drowsiness and sudden attacks of sleep."

There is no currently no cure, though medications and lifestyle changes can help sufferers control their symptoms.

Messer has long denied having a problem with prescription painkillers, which was first revealed byRadarOnline.com in 2014.

While she has been caught nodding off and slurring her words on MTV cameras, she has come up with a variety of excuses for the bizarre behavior, including reality TV editing and stress.

Meanwhile, her ex-husband Corey Simms' wife Miranda seemed to bash Messer on Twitter this week.
