Sarah Palin Pays Tribute To John McCain: I'll Remember The Good Times
Sarah Palin has paid tribute to US Senator John McCain who died aged 81 this weekend.
His former Presidential running mate was left devastated by the news that he had passed away from a brain tumor.
She revealed: "I'll remember the good times that's for darn sure.
"He will be remembered as an American hero but he was surrounded by disloyal people who didn't serve him well."
The pair were inseparable as they toured the country together in 2008 in the Presidential race.
Palin, 54, gave his campaign a huge boost when he surprisingly announced that she would run alongside him.
However, not everything went smoothly as they tried to win the White House.
She revealed: "I don't think inherently he necessarily was really connected, so he did rely on people telling him - in polls - telling him and…he went from there.
"I think that's unfortunate because he had some strange people around him and..disloyal people, and you know, I don't say that as like hate speech or griping about it, it's just a fact they were just some not nice people."
But the pair found common ground after McCain urged her to be herself during their campaign and not to be moulded by others.
"You can't do that. You can't be insincere and not genuine and accomplish what needs to be done, but yeah, that was a huge lesson," she revealed.
'If it was just John McCain and me, or just our families together it was awesome. Those were the good times."
Palin revealed that she thought McCain would be remembered most for his military service and for serving his country with honor and pride.

"The physical and mental hell he went through in service to our country. I don't put up with it when people - in our own party even - want to keep criticizing him even invoking his military service.
"I think go ahead criticize his politics, but you bring up that military service, you slam him as a vet, and I'll defend him as aggressively as I defend my own kids.
"John McCain will be remembered, I think he should be remembered, as an American hero when you consider his military service."
Palin revealed that the pair had remained in touch after their failed campaign and always had strong debates and conversations about politics and life.
And she rebuked claims that McCain had said he wished that he had chosen Connecticut Senator Joseph Lieberman as his VP instead in his memoir The Restless Wave insisting this was done by ghost- writers.
