Money Problems! Mischa Barton In Over $52,000 Tax Debt Before Joining ‘The Hills’
Mischa Barton has been hit with two tax liens – but fortunately for her she has MTV paychecks to help pay them off! RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal the future star of The Hills is in over $52,000 tax debt.
The Clerk of Court for Los Angeles County confirmed the IRS hit Barton, 32, with a federal tax lien for $14,862 on September 5, 2018.
On January 13, 2017, she was slapped with a federal tax lien for $38,124.
The clerk confirmed to RadarOnline.com that both liens remain unpaid.
Barton will join The Hills reboot, which is set to premiere in 2019, alongside Heidi and Spencer Pratt, Brody Jenner, Audrina Patridge, Jason Wahler, Stephanie Pratt, Justin Bobby and Frankie Delgado.
“Welcome to The Hills b***h,” The O.C. star said in an Instagram video.
“The secret’s out,” she captioned the video. “I’m joining the cast of The Hills. When MTV approached me with the chance to be a part of the reality show that was inspired by The O.C., it felt like the perfect opportunity for an irresistibly inviting new chapter.
Ever since Barton’s departure from The O.C. in 2007, which inspired Laguna Beach and spinoff The Hills, she has had a series of legal and mental health battles.
In 2016, Barton filed a lawsuit against her mother Nuala, accusing her of stealing millions while working as her manager. She later dismissed the lawsuit.
In February 2017, Barton slammed her U-Haul truck into an apartment building. The Homeowners Association at The Park Wellington sued her for $26,991.55 in October 2017.
In September 2018, the U-Haul company filed a lawsuit against Barton, claiming they are entitled to holding onto the personal items she abandoned in the U-Haul truck until she pays them $5,827.65. They are asking for the right to sell the belongings in an auction.
In June 2017, she took her ex Jon Zacharias to court to stop him from leaking their sex tape.
The same year, she was rushed to the hospital for a mental evaluation after cops were called to her West Hollywood home.
She was allegedly spotted in her backyard talking about her estranged mother and saying “incoherent statements.”
She blamed the meltdown on being drugged with the date rape substance GHB.
Barton has been spotted abusing drugs including shrooms and cocaine, RadarOnline.com previously reported.
