Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino said goodbye to Jersey Shore fans on Instagram live before checking into prison to complete an 8-month sentence for tax evasion.

In the video, Sorrentino, 37, appeared somber as he stared out the window of his car.

"Okay honey you're on," his fiancée Lauren Pesce told him. "You can stay on as long as you want. You should see all the messages people are sending."

But Sorrentino wasn't ready to talk to fans, as he stared at his phone and sipped coffee. His wife zoomed in on a box of tissues on the car floor.

When a fan brought up Pesce's famous confetti cake, Sorrentino finally cracked a joke.

"You're going to save a lot of money on food," he smiled. "That's all we spend our money on."

When Pesce read more positive messages, Sorrentino responded, "That's good. I want to put this behind me and move forward. The comeback is always greater than the setback."

Sorrentino took a moment to promote his online store by showing off his sweatshirt. He also advised fans to check out their YouTube channel for a special video and updates.

"The Situation will reveal himself in 2019," he said. "Currently under construction, but will be revealed. Under new management now."

When his wife asked if he wants to say anything else, he responded, "There is nothing more to say. Just take me to jail."

During the video, Pesce showed a camera filming the car ride. It is unclear if the camera was for Jersey Shore or their YouTube channel.

Sorrentino was sentenced to 8 months in prison on tax evasion charges on October 5. He will have 24 months of supervised release and 500 hours of community service when he's out.

His brother Marc was sentenced to two years in prison.

Federal prison consultant Dan Wise exclusively told RadarOnline.com that Sorrentino will have an easy time in prison.

"It will be very unlikely that he will ever see any type of violence while serving his very relaxed prison sentence," he told RadarOnline.com. "With his status of MTV, it is more likely inmates will see him as a star which will make his time very easy!"
