Following four months of royalty and one fiery family feud, Meghan Markle has been turning to longtime pal, Serena Williams, for support.
As RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned, the Duchess of Sussex, 37, has been making teary phone calls to the tennis pro, 36, as she struggles to manage her new, high-profile life.
According to a source, her latest call came hours after Williams' own meltdown with an umpire at the US Open final. At the time, Markle told he friend that Prince Harry is pushing her for a baby but she doesn't feel ready to start a family until her own family woes are sorted out. Plus, she knows she will be slammed for not letting her dad meet his grandchild!
RadarOnline.com readers know Markle became estranged from father Thomas Markle after he began telling royal family secrets to the press and staging photo shoots for publicity.
The insider said that apart from her family issues, Markle also feels she gets little support and contact from Kate Middleton — who could have been a big help to her in the palace, but instead just looks down on her!
Williams, then, has become her only ally.
The duchess and the tennis star have known each other for years, but the Wimbledon champion recently revealed they grow closer and closer every day.
"We were actually just texting each other this morning. We have known each other for a long time, but we really are relying on each other a lot recently," Williams told Australia's The Project.
She added that she felt like she was "literally watching history" when she saw the Suits alum marry Prince Harry at Windsor Castle this May 19.
"I feel like in a few years, when I look back at that moment, it's just gonna be so historic. It's gonna be something people never forget. The whole service was really wonderful and most of all, I just wanted to see my friend be happy and I think that's what happened," Williams said.
Clearly, the love they have for each other has no bounds.
After Markle released her cookbook in support of the victims of the Grenfell tragedy in London, the tennis pro revealed she felt "proud" of her gorgeous friend.
"I used to call you Meghan (and I still do) but dear Duchess of Sussex your first project 'Together' a cookbook bringing women of all cultures together. I could not be more excited about it and proud of you. It's beautiful - diversity, inclusivity, coming together in grief or joy," Williams wrote on Twitter after Markle's exciting book launch.
