Abandoning Abby? Maddie Ziegler Quits 'Dance Moms' Amid Miller Fraud Case
Abby Lee Miller's ongoing financial and legal troubles aren't her only worries, as she has lost the star of her competition team. In a preview for Dance Moms, Maddie Ziegler confirmed her departure from the show.
"Melissa finally dropped the bomb," cast member Jill Vertes said, as Melissa Ziegler confirmed, "After this season, Maddie is not going to be on the team anymore."
Miller wasn't pleased by the news, as she told her grief-stricken team, "Don't you guys realize the magnitude of this?"
Maddie, 13, quitting the team couldn't come at the worst time for the ALDC owner, as she was charged with 20 counts of fraud in October. She was accused of concealment of bankruptcy assets, false bankruptcy declarations and bankruptcy fraud.
She could face up to five years in prison and $5 million in fines if convicted.
The announcement comes after Maddie missed the beginning of the season to shoot the film The Book of Henry alongside Naomi Watts and Jacob Tremblay.
