In this week's episode of Little People, Big World, Amy Roloff's boyfriend threw her a surprise birthday party, but shocked her when he asked her ex-husband, Matt Roloff to help him!
It all began when Chris Marek planned an epic bash for Amy's 55th birthday, where he invited all of her closest friends — and her baby daddy.
"Chris is throwing a surprise party for Amy and asked me to help out with hiding the cars of the guests and it's all kind of a little bit bizarre," Matt admitted to the cameras. "I don't know him real well and it's awkward — especially knowing Amy is a little dicey with him and I talking. But hey he is reaching out to me, so we are going to run with it."
At one point, Chris and Matt met to go over the surprise plan and seemed to get along quite well.
"She doesn't know you are here today?" Matt asked Chris.
"No. Well I'm late. I told her I'd come visit around one then I pushed it back to two o'clock, then three," Chris replied.
By the time Matt was done giving Chris the tour, Amy's ex came to the conclusion that her new man was right for her.
"Chris is very respectful," Matt told the cameras. "I think Chris is good for Amy. If Chris wasn't in Amy's life, Amy would be thrashing around and I'd be on that receiving end of that thrashing. I was for 30 years!"
Chris also took a liking to Matt.
"I think he and I get along fine," Chris revealed. "Fortunately, he doesn't make me feel like I am intruding."
When it came time for the party, Amy was definitely taken by surprise. She became overwhelmed with emotion at how thoughtful Chris was.
"Chris really put the time and effort into this. I did not have a clue — non-whatsoever," Amy said speechless.
"I wanted to do something because she did that great birthday dinner for me. She's really sweet and caring, it's very sweet," Chris explained. "And we are very playful with each other, it doesn't feel like we're 55."
Chris then confessed to Amy that Matt was the one who helped make sure the party ran smoothly.
"I met with Matt to organize parking" Chris told a visibly shocked Amy.
"It did take me by surprise to know he was in communication with Matt about the party, but I got over it after realizing that Matt would be the guy to go to about where to hide all the cars," she later admitted.
In another scene, Audrey and Jeremy Roloff dealt with their newborn baby's health struggles.
Three-weeks old Ember was having difficulty taking her mama's breast milk.
"It takes Ember like 10 or 15 minutes latch, which is the frustrating part for me," Audrey said. "I just sit there like trying and trying and trying, and just be patient with her and not get mad at her and like help her do it."
"She doesn't eat for that long, and then let's go," Audrey explained. "I definitely felt robbed of the joy of those sweet newborn moments. I was not prepared for how hard it would be."
Audrey and Jeremy then decided to visit the doctor to see if something was wrong with their little girl — and it turned out, there was.
"We took her into the specialist and right away she was like, 'she has a pretty severe lip tie,'" Audrey said.
"The top of her lip was like attached to her gum halfway across," Jeremy added. "It's something that doesn't allow the baby to pull the milk probably, which she wasn't getting any."
"It took a piece of your heart. This big traumatic situation just happened and now we are just locked in the house, bunkered down recovering it all."
Following the surgery, Audrey and Jeremy had to do help Ember do constant, painful lip exercises in order to help her gums and lips heal separately.
"You've got to force pain on your daughter, and she doesn't get it, it's very hard," said an emotional Jeremy.
"The main thing I'm doing is praying a lot," Audrey added.
