JonBenet Forensic Psychiatrist Dr. Steven Pitt Shot Dead Outside Arizona Office
A high-profile forensic psychiatrist in the JonBenet Ramsey investigation has been shot dead.
Dr. Steven Pitt, 59, was gunned down outside his Arizona office on Thursday.
Witnesses heard a loud argument before the gunfire erupted killing the medical expert who also worked on the Columbine school shooting.
According to Phoenix Police Sgt Vince Lewis, the witnesses provided a description of the gunman that allowed police to create a sketch.
Police are currently also studying CCTV footage for clues to the shock incident.
“We are not ruling anything out, but at this point, a loud argument probably suggests they knew each other either professionally or personally," said Sgt Lewis.
Dr. Pitt had worked as a consultant for law enforcement across the country, helping investigators crack cases while also being quoted as a media expert by several outlets including NBC News.

Phoenix police said they are still investigating the case but are looking at his previous case studies.
"It's an angle we'll be looking into," Sgt Lewis said.
Dr. Pitt used to work in Colorado and he was personally picked by the Boulder County District Attorney Alex Hunter to assist in the 1996 homicide of child beauty queen JonBenet.
"He gave us insights in terms of 'profiling' people that we were looking at that I thought were beyond all of our expertise, important, helpful stuff," revealed Hunter
"He's tough and tenacious, and he isn't just a book kind of guy. Dr. Pitt always has had extremely strong feelings about the case, which, to put it mildly, he wasn't afraid to share."
