Jon Gosselin has been on a downward spiral ever since he split from his wife Kate, mother of their eight kids.

But on Saturday, the much-slammed reality show dad turned into a hero, saving a woman from her burning house in Reading, Pennsylvania, Radar has learned.

According to a source, "Jon saw a house on fire in his neighborhood and called 911. But that's not all—he banged on the door and got the woman out and then went back in to get her two dogs, too!"

Another insider says, "Jon was truly at the right place at the right time."

But incredibly, when pals contacted Jon to praise him for his heroism, the TV father told them, "Thanks but I'm not a hero. I'm sure it was just circumstance and any one of us would have done the same thing."

Jon, 41, who famously split from wife Kate in 2008 while rumors flew he had cheated, was officially divorced from her in 2009.

Since then, he has worked various jobs, including as a waiter in 2014, as Radar reported. Jon was fired from waiting tables, sources said.  He has also still dabbled in reality TV, appearing on VH1's Couples Therapy show with a galpal. On the show, as Radar has reported, Jon ripped his marriage to Kate as "ten years of a business transaction."

Recently, Radar discovered Jon also scored a gig as a stripper!

But at least for today, Jon will be known as a superman after rescuing the female neighbor from a fire.

Afterwards, Jon also told his friends about the fire that he was "glad everyone was alive and safe," including the lady's dogs.

The fire department in the area was quick to respond to the blaze and put it out, according to reports.
