Heather Locklear Pleads Not Guilty In Vicious Attack On Cops
Months after her arrest for allegedly threatening deputies stemming from a fight with her ex, Heather Locklear pleaded not guilty to five misdemeanor charges.
The Melrose Place actress did not show up at Ventura County Superior Court Thursday morning, but Locklear’s attorneys, Blair Berk and William Haney, entered not guilty pleas to her charges, which includes four misdemeanor counts of battery on a peace officer and one misdemeanor count of resisting arrest.
The actress could see a maximum sentence of five years in jail if convicted of all charges, said Senior Deputy District Attorney Thomas Dunlevy.
At Thursday’s hearing, Commissioner Derek Malan ordered Locklear to appear back in court on June 7 for a pretrial conference. Haney said he and Berk are preparing a “significant report,” which they also plan to provide to the court and the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.
Locklear was arrested on Feb. 25, 2018 by Ventura County Sheriff’s for domestic violence after an alleged argument at her Thousand Oaks, Calif. with her fiancè, Christopher Heisser. According to a search warrant obtained by Radar, Locklear's “erratic, aggressive behavior toward law-enforcement,” had them fearful for future actions and they wanted to remove a gun, a Smith and Wesson .38 revolver, from her home.
Investigators found no gun in Locklear’s house.
Locklear has been out on $20,000 bond and has been in rehab since the February incident, according to sources. Haney told the court on Thursday that the actress is still at a treatment facility.
Dunlevy asked the court last month to impose an order for Locklear not to own or possess a gun, which Locklear agreed to. Malan said the bond will continue since the actress said she will follow that order.
According to the March 8, 2018 search warrant obtained by RadarOnline.com, Locklear initially told deputies, who respondent to the 911 call to her house, that Heisser and her got into a fight and Heisser tried to “choke” her.
Heisser’s name was redacted from the affidavit, but the warrant noted the February incident was between Locklear and “her boyfriend."
Locklear told deputies that the argument started when Heisser “lied to her” and she threw a can of Red Bull at him. When deputies pressed Locklear further about her altercation, Locklear allegedly became belligerent and attempted to push one of the deputies out of the doorway of the home and screamed, “Get the f**k out of my house!”
The actress then allegedly kicked one deputy in the shin and another deputy with her left foot after she was handcuffed.
“At one point (Locklear) screamed, ‘He (Heisser) tried to kill me. He’s a felon! Let me the f**k go,’” according to the warrant. “Due to her combative behavior, deputies placed a hobble around Locklear’s ankles to prevent her from kicking deputies. Locklear screamed at Deputy Nesgis, 'You f**king deserve your kids to die! You f**king deserve it! And when you find yourself in that position, think of me!’"
Both Berk and Haney refused to comment on the case after Thursday’s hearing.
