Partridge Family star David Cassidy has been placed in an induced coma.
The 67-year-old star was taken to a hospital in Florida and it is understood that he suffered multiple organ failure.
Cassidy is widely known for his starring role as Keith Partridge on the 1970s series The Partridge Family.
His health has been failing for several years and it is understood that his gamily is currently at his bedside.
Earlier this year Cassidy revealed that he had been battling dementia – he made the announcement after falling on stage.
The one time pin-up actor has endured a troubled past including arrests and a stint in rehab plus money problems.
Doctors believe he could die if he doesn't get an urgent kidney or liver transplant while his family has been told to prepare for the worst.
After his on stage fall Partridge opened up about his condition.
He said: "I was in denial, but a part of me always knew this was coming."
His mother the actress Evelyn Ward struggled with dementia until her death at 89 in 2012.
