The investigation of the mysterious deaths of Canadian billionaire Barry Sherman and his wife Honey, whose bodies were found hanging by their home pool, just got stranger. Private investigators hired by the Shermans' children now believe that they were murdered by multiple killers, a source told CBC Toronto.

The Sherman kids have vehemently rejected the alleged original theory by the cops that it might have been a murder-suicide.

A police source reportedly told Toronto's The Globe and Mail that they believed Apotex pharmaceutical mogul Barry, 75, could have killed his wife, 70, hung her body and then hanged himself at the edge of their lavish home's pool.

A real estate agent, who was prepping the home for an open house, found the bodies on Dec. 15, hanging from rails, side-by-side, next to the Shermans' indoor swimming pool. The home was listed for a whopping $5.4 million dollars.

A source said their bodies were in an upright seated position on the floor near an indoor pool. Police have said that the deaths were "suspicious" but have since clammed up.

The Sherman family's team of experts, conducting a separate, independent investigation, have now discovered evidence that both Barry and Honey had their necks wrapped with leather belts that were then knotted around a handrail that runs adjacent to the pool, the source told CBC Toronto. A coroner previously ruled that the couple had died from "ligature neck compression," or strangulation.

According to the report, the Shermans' wrists showed evidence that they had been, at one point, bound together, but no rope or other binding materials have been found, the source told CBC Toronto.

Barry and Honey's bodies were limp and their arms unbound when they were discovered, the source noted.

Cops have said there was no evidence of forced entry into the Sherman house.

According to the source, the P.I.s believe that the Shermans were actually killed on Dec. 13, two days before they were found—because Honey was wearing the same clothes she was last seen in, on Dec. 13.

Also, it's thought that Honey may have tried to fight off her killers, as she had cuts on her lip and nose.

She was reportedly sitting in a pool of her own blood when she was found and may have been lying face-down on the pool tile before being bound to the handrail in an upright position, the source told the Canadian publication.

The Shermans were beloved for their charitable contributions and thousands of mourners showed up for their funeral in Toronto.

However, the billionaire couple allegedly had money troubles before their deaths and Barry reportedly made enemies by spying on his business rivals.

The Toronto police haven't commented on the new report.
