Insiders say Curry is "furious" the network was trying to "force the narrative" that she participated in the investigation against Lauer. Rather, sources reveal she was ONLY contacted by a lawyer from NBC after she told the Washington Post that she had told two senior members of NBC in 2012 that a female staffer that at the time was working on the Today show, had approached her, alleging that Matt had sexually harassed her.

The NBC lawyer allegedly demanded Curry reveal the name of the female staffer, who is still employed at the network. But she'd "made a promise to the young woman at the time that she would never reveal her identity, and she wouldn't betray her trust."

The female staffer Lauer was hitting on was just out of college at the time, according to the snitch, and was very uncomfortable with Matt's attention and comments towards her. "Ann hasn't spoken to her in years, but wishes her well."

Added the source: "Ann refused to tell the lawyer who the staff member was...she did consider revealing the two executives she warned about Matt's behavior, but since they no longer work directly with the Today show, decided not to because the risk of having betraying the confidence also was a factor."

"No one from NBC ever contacted Ann about the investigation into Matt, the source said, explaining "it was just this specific incident."
