It definitely pays to be Ellen DeGeneres! But with a staggering $250 million in the bank, spending nearly $40 million big ones on new digs is a drop in the bucket.
So what does the talk show queen do when she buys what’s been called the best house in Los Angeles? She adds thousands more dollars onto the price tag in decadent upgrades, of course, RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal. And she’s taking a cue from her Holmby Hills, Calif. neighbors -- the Playboy Mansion -- by recently putting in plans to add an indoor spa to the love shack she shares with leading lady, wife Portia de Rossi.
And never mind that the modern mansion, dubbed the Brody House, had just undergone a complete top to bottom renovation. When you’re DeGeneres, more is much, much better.
According to filed construction plans the comedienne submitted to the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety, and obtained by Radar, DeGeneres will be able to enjoy her view from the top while soaking in all her success from the private tub in her very own spa on the top floor of the ginormous 13,400 square foot home.

Only this jacuzzi is more like a pool coming in at 15 feet!
And, if that’s not enough, it’s surrounded by tempered glass walls, separate seating and a large skylight overhead for a grand total of about $35,000.
While the 56-year-old is on a spending spree after selling her Beverly Hills home for $49 million to Ryan Seacrest last August, she decided to throw in nearly $60,000 extra to remodel the kitchen, bathroom -- and for paparazzi protection -- add a guard house.
That doesn’t include the 800-square foot addition to the pool house and nearly 1,000 square feet of a new living space the happy couple will soon call home, according to permit records.
And the rest of the house already comes with a plethora of A-list amenities to satisfy the funny gal’s caviar taste -- tennis court; pool; open atrium; pool house with playroom, guest room and men's and women's bathrooms; three maids rooms, kitchen; nook; two butler’s pantries; dining room with a masonry outdoor fireplace and built-in BBQ; art gallery; wine storage; four bedrooms; security room; koi pond; deck off the study and master suite; walls of removable glass; and patios and terraces throughout.
