Serena & Venus Williams’ Half-Sister Sabrina Trashes 'King Richard,' Says Father Left Her To Be Raised In Poverty
Serena & Venus Williams’ half-sister Sabrina is tearing into Will Smith for his portrayal of her father Richard Williams, claiming he should be “ashamed of himself” for leaving out key parts from the biopic King Richard.
Sabrina railed on her father in an interview with The Sun following the release of the film this weekend. She described having a much different experience with Richard than Serena and Venus.
She claims Richard walked out on her mother to become a millionaire. Richard was married to Sabrina’s late mother Betty Johnson in the early ‘60s. The couple shared 5 children including Sabrina.
Sabrina claims her father left to buy her a bike but never returned home. She found out he went on to marry Serena and Venus’ mother Oracene.
"Truth be told, those girls rose to the top while his other children had to suffer because of the choices my dad made, we were raised in poverty after he left,” Sabrina explained.

"He choose tennis for them, as he knew it could also make him a millionaire."
Sabrina is also upset with Will for taking on the role. She said he should be “ashamed of himself” for even taking the role. “They say Will Smith is probably getting an Academy Award for this, I held him in a deep regard, but, as a black American, he should have wanted to tell the full story,” she said.
"Will Smith is not dumb. They got to grow up better, and didn't have to harvest for food, or worry about their next meal. It would have been nice to have a backstory."
Serena and Venus were initially nervous to give the film their stamp of approval. They did not agree to be named producers on the film until they watched the final cut. However, since they watched the film the sisters have shown it and Will their full support. They even walked the red carpet at the worldwide premiere.
Venus and Serena have yet to respond to their half-sister's claims. Richard is currently being taken care of by his son and is dealing with serious health issues.
