Robert De Niro believes his former assistant used 3 million of his frequent flyer miles for personal use and transferred another 4.5 million into her own account.
According to court documents obtained by Radar, the actor is back in court fighting his ex-employee Graham Robinson.
The two are facing off in dueling lawsuits. De Niro struck first accusing Robinson of using the company credit card to buy herself expensive dinners and stays at fancy hotels that had nothing to do with work.
He is seeking $6 million in damages.
Robinson denies the claims. She filed her own $12 million lawsuit accusing De Niro of gender discrimination.
De Niro’s former employee started as his personal assistant in 2008. She worked her way up to Vice President of Production and Finance at De Niro’s production company Canal Productions. At the time she resigned from the company, Robinson was being paid $300k a year.
In court docs, she claims De Niro forced her to endure a toxic workplace where he called her a “bitch” and spoke to her in a “hostile, abusive and intimidating manner.”
Both suits are ongoing.
In newly filed docs, De Niro attacked a 2019 letter his lawyer fired off to Robinson which reveals details of what he believes she bought with the credit card.
“I was asked to respond to your recent emails addressed to Bob. Please note that Bob does not wish to communicate with you. As such, please direct correspondence regarding this matter to me,” his lawyer started the letter off.
The letter accuses Robinson of going on a 4-year spree with the company card. The lawyer claims she used it to purchase food, Uber, dog-sitting, groceries, cameras, iPhones, Pilates classes, dry-cleaning, flowers for your residence, and claims she “helped” herself to petty cash.
Further, the letter claims she converted over 7 million Delta SkyMiles over the past 2 years. He claims she used 3 million for personal travel and transferred another 4.5 million to a personal account. De Niro believes the value of the miles is $300k.
In the legal letter, De Niro’s team claims Robinson went on vacations to London where he improperly using Canal’s credit cards to buy taxis and pay for her food.
During one L.A. trip, De Niro claim Robinson charged $2,600 for her stay at the Montage Hotel, $156 for one dinner at Nobu, another $604 for a second dinner at Nobu, $729 for a rental car, and several hundred on Uber despite having the rental.
Robinson denies she improperly used the credit cards and calls into question whether she made all the purchases mentioned.
