Nicki Minaj and her husband Kenneth Petty are being dragged in court by his alleged attempted rape victim.
According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, Jennifer Hough is pleading with the court to not allow Petty to delay this case to avoid potential prison time.
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Minaj and her husband Kenneth Petty are being sued by a woman named Hough.
Hough is seeking $20 million for the alleged harassment, intimidation, and infliction of emotional distress. She is the victim of attempted rape by Petty in the ‘90s. Prosecutors originally charged him with first-degree rape but reached a plea deal.
The charge was reduced to attempted rape and he served 4 years in prison. Hough says everything was quiet until Minaj started dating Petty, who she knew from her childhood.
After Minaj went public with her relationship, Petty’s criminal record was revealed. Hough says Minaj started making false public statements about the case in an effort to silence the critics. The suit said the rapper told fans Hough had recanted her story and that her husband was falsely accused.
Hough said this was not true. Minaj reportedly started having her associates call and show up to Hough’s home in an attempt to have her recant the claims.
She says Minaj also called her personally to offer her $500k. Hough said she and her family, “suffered an onslaught of harassing calls and unsolicited visits.” Hough turned down all offers and refused to recant.
“Ms. Hough lives in constant fear that one of Defendant Maraj’s crazed fans – who incessantly message and threaten her – or one of Defendant Maraj and Petty’s blood gang member associates will find her, children, and/or her husband, and severely injure or kill them,” the suit read.
Hough is seeking a default judgment against Petty due to him failing to respond. He claims he was never served with the paperwork and is fighting her request.
Now, Hough is back pleading for the default to be granted. She accuses Petty of trying to drag out this civil case because it could affect his criminal sentencing.
Petty was charged for failing to register as a sex offender when he moved to California with Minaj. He recently reached a plea deal and is set to be sentenced in January. Hough says he is trying to avoid answering the lawsuit before the sentencing to avoid revealing “exceptionally damaging facts.”
She says Petty “has strong incentive to force Hough to recant her report of violent rape and intentionally delay this case to limit criminal repercussions.” Hough says “Defendants have a violent criminal history without remorse.”
She brings up Petty “convicted of first- degree manslaughter in the death of Lamont Robinson after his release from prison for the offense against Hough.” He served years in prison after being convicted.
Hough is pleading with the court to grant a default and not allow Petty to drag the case out any longer. The default would be the first step for Hough in obtaining a default judgment.
