Dr. Jill Biden has admitted she is worried about her husband's future after his cancer diagnosis, RadarOnline.com has learned.

Former President Joe Biden was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer in May 2025. By the time the doctors caught it, the cancer had already spread to his bones.

Jill, 75, noted her fears aren't exclusive to his cancer, but also to her age. She said on the Jaime Kern Lima Show, "Of course I'm scared. I mean, first of all, he's almost 10 years older than I am. And with an illness ... you kinda can't let your head go there."

The pair have been married for 49 years, making it difficult for Jill to "imagine life without" her "strong" 83-year-old husband.

Her concerns predated his diagnosis, too. While the couple was living in the White House, she noticed Joe's frequent trips to the bathroom – sometimes occurring seven times a night. At the time, she believed the physicians on staff addressed the issue; they had no clue a cancer diagnosis would soon follow.

She further explained the impact his loss will have on their family at large, saying, "He's always been the strength of our family."

Jill further explained her family's perspective on the diagnosis.

"We look at it like, 'Joe has cancer. He’s gonna die, so let’s make the most of every moment,'" Jill said, adding, "'Let’s be together ... let's find things that bring us joy. Let's make this a positive journey' – I mean, not a negative journey, because how can you live with that every day? You can't. It’s too heavy."

In May 2025, Joe's office revealed the cancer diagnosis: "Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms.

"On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone. While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management."

The ex-president then got personal, reflecting later in a statement of his own, "Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support."

He posted his first public comments about his cancer on Instagram, alongside a sweet photo of himself, his wife, and their cat.

The former president undergone some initial treatments.

A year later, the family is still grappling with Joe's cancer. However, Joe is currently "doing okay," according to Jill, who appeared on the Today show earlier this summer.

Joe did enter some treatment, including hormone therapy and at least one round of radiation. However, he is still battling cancer.

While Joe appears to be taking one day at a time, Jill understands the reality. "I think Joe will live with cancer ‘til the rest of his life," she said.
