Retired UFC fighter Chuck Liddell will not face criminal charges over the domestic incident involving his estranged wife Heidi.
According to law enforcement sources, the L.A. County District Attorney made the decision to not pursue the case after speaking to all parties involved.
As we previously reported, last week, 51-year-old Chuck and his wife got into a verbal argument that turned physical after returning home from a party. Things got so bad that cops were called out.
Officers arrived at the scene and observed red marks on Chuck but Heidi had no visible injuries. Both were cited for domestic violence but the fighter was the only one who was taken into custody.
After being released from jail, Chuck spoke out about the incident claiming he was the victim and not the aggressor. He accused Heidi of assaulting him so badly that he had bruises and lacerations on his body.
He claims he only went to jail because officers said if he didn't volunteer they would lock up Heidi. "The deputies informed me that my wife would be arrested, as I did not respond to her assault while I sustained bruising and lacerations. I volunteered to go in her place," he revealed.
"I was the victim of the incident last night at our family home, as details of the case will reveal," he added.
"This was one of the many times I have tried to shield a family mental health issue from the public purview. It has become painfully apparent that this cannot continue, as our private life has now reached a public breaking point," he said.
Days later, Chuck rushed to Los Angeles Superior Court to file for divorce from his wife of 10 years. Heidi has yet to respond to the petition or make a public statement on the matter.
