Iran was behind the assassination of Charlie Kirk, RadarOnline.com can reveal, according to a top government official.
Joe Kent, President Trump's former director of the National Counterterrorism, has claimed Iran planned the murder of the right-wing activist, who had been a vocal supporter of Israel while alive.
'Iran Had Killed Charlie'

The murder of Kirk has taken another turn, with a former government official suggesting Iran may have planned it all.
According to Kent, before he left his position on March 18, the government organization was investigating allegations that international entities may have been involved in Kirk's death. However, Kent claimed the FBI prevented the probe from continuing.
The 31-year-old was shot and killed at Utah Valley University on September 10. Despite his shocking claims, a source who was familiar with the FBI investigation alleged Kent would often make unsupported claims that foreign actors killed Kirk.
They noted: "During the early stages of the Charlie Kirk investigation, he would walk into meetings … and speculate that Iran had killed Charlie. And when asked for evidence, he had none."
Following Kirk's death, the prime suspect, Tyler Robinson, was arrested and is now facing capital murder charges and a potential death sentence.
Did the Prime Suspect Act Alone?

The right-wing activist, here with President Trump, was assassinated on September 10, 2025.
But Kent claimed the 22-year-old accused killer may not have acted alone.
"Charlie Kirk was killed publicly in a very horrific way, and we're not really even allowed to look into that at all," the former official explained.
He continued: "We've been told that this individual, Robinson, is a lone gunman, and maybe he is, but the investigation that I was a part of – the National Terrorism Center, was a part of – we were stopped from continuing to investigate."
According to insiders, FBI Director Kash Patel lost it after he discovered Kent was looking over FBI files to track down leads to ensure that foreign or domestic organizations were not involved in Kirk’s murder. Earlier in the investigation, authorities had recovered an unfired bullet casing allegedly marked with the words: "hey fascist."

Former director of the National Counterterrorism, Joe Kent, suggested Iran may have been behind the murder.
However, while Kent has sparked the Iran theory, private investigator Jason Jensen suggested it's too early to determine if Kirk's killer had help, and suggested the podcaster potentially had a target on his back.
He explained, "Due to Charlie Kirk’s high status as an American patriot and as a popular public figure, he would definitely be within Iran and other foreign terrorists' list of targets for assassinations.
"We still don't know if Tyler Robinson was working for himself or taking instructions from somebody else."
The case against Robinson was rocked earlier this week, when his defense attorneys filed a new court filing, arguing the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) "was unable to identify the bullet recovered at autopsy to the rifle allegedly tied to Mr Robinson."

Charlie Kirk's widow, Erika, has appeared with Trump several times following his death.
The suspect's legal team revealed the ATF firearm analyst's testimony may be used as "exculpatory evidence." The lawyers also noted the FBI is conducting a second comparative bullet analysis and a lead bullet analysis, but neither has been completed.
"Again, until the defense receives the case files and protocols relating to these analyses, and has had them independently evaluated by its expert, they will not be in a position to assess the reliability of this evidence if either the State or the defense decides to proffer it," they explained.
However, former FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer urged others the filing was "expected due to the state of the bullet, and warned others following the case that the "bullets don't tell the story" in this situation.

"It is really critical that people understand what the ballistics findings mean in Charlie's case," she said via X. "That bullet went into Charlie, did not exit, and was mangled in the process, and became a bullet fragment."
Coffindaffer explained because the bullet was broken, the casings will be the key to determining which weapon was used in Kirk's death.
