Carol Burnett convinced a judge to sign off on hiring Britney Spears’ co-conservator to manage her grandson’s life due to his mother’s drug issues, while the mother appears to be making moves to regain custody.
According to court documents obtained by Radar, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge has granted a motion to bring on Jodi Pais Montgomery as temporary guardian of Dylan Hamilton-West.
Dylan’s mother is Carol’s daughter Erin Hamilton. In docs, it was revealed she has been in-and-out of rehab over the years and struggles with severe addiction problems.
“In the past 19 years, Erin has been in and out of rehabilitation centers and has been institutionalized a total of eight times for a minimum of 30 days each time,” she said.
Last year, Erin was placed on a 51/50 hold by authorities and had to be hospitalized in Los Angeles. Carol explained Dylan's father was also unable to care for her grandson due to his own personal demons.
Around the same time, Carol went to court asking to become the temporary guardian of Dylan, along with her husband Brian Miller. The judge signed off on the request and the guardianship was set to expire this year.
Carol says Jodi has been helpful in coordinating Dylan's needs and making sure he stays on track.
During a hearing earlier this month, the judge signed off on the request. Erin was also present at the hearing via zoom.
The court docs also note Dylan’s mom has been granted visitation rights. She is allowed to have monitored visits one time per week for two hours confirmed 48 hours in advance.
Jodi must approve the monitor selected by Erin. “No make-up visits for visits cancelled by Erin.”
The temporary guardianship is now approved until March 30, 2022. A decision will be made at the hearing to determine whether to make the guardianship permanent.
