In the moments after Halyna Hutchins was shot by Alec Baldwin on the set of Rust, she turned to a boom operator and said, "That was no good."
The late 42-year-old mom was pronounced dead at a hospital in Santa Fe, New Mexico, hours later. Her chilling last words were documented by the Los Angeles Times. The outlet spoke to 14 crew members via emails and text messages.
According to their report, moments before the prop gun that Baldwin was holding shot a "live round," the actor was preparing for his upcoming scene. He was reportedly standing in front of a makeshift church with his hand on the holster of what he was allegedly told was a "cold gun."
The term is used in the industry to signify that the weapon is safe for rehearsal.
“So, I guess I’m gonna take this out, pull it and go, ‘Bang!’” Baldwin reportedly said before the gun went off, striking Halyna in the chest and the film's director Joel Souza in the shoulder.
Halyna reportedly stumbled back, falling into chief electrician on set while Joel fell to the floor shouting, "What the f— was that? That burns!” Baldwin was allegedly just as shocked as everyone else, dropping the gun and responding, “What the f— just happened?”
As the crew rushed to Halyna's side while she bled from her chest, she reportedly looked at a boom operator and said, “Oh, that was no good. No, that was no good. That was no good at all."
Since the incident, Baldwin has escaped to Vermont with his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, and their children. The actor insists that he has fully cooperated with the police and will continue to do so during their investigation.
He hasn't been trying to hide either. Speaking to reporters over the weekend, Baldwin called Halyna his "friend" and revealed they went out to dinner together before the accidental shooting.
Baldwin has also made sure to console her grieving widower, showing up to her funeral and being there for her husband and child.
