In a shocking attack, Angelina Jolie's Tomb Raider co-star Simon Yam was stabbed by a mystery assailant.
A man stabbed the veteran actor, 64, in the stomach on Saturday, July 20, as Yam was speaking on stage during a promotional event in China.
He's best known for playing the villain Chen Lo in 2003's Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life.
According to his manager Lester Mo, Yam underwent a minor operation at a hospital in Zhongshan city after the bizarre attack.
"He was stabbed in the tummy area and also got a cut on his right hand," Mo revealed.
Yam is still being treated for injuries to the four fingers of his right hand.
Video from Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter, shows a man rush the stage and remove a weapon from his pocket. He then stabs Yam, who tries desperately to move away while holding his stomach.
Security guards responded and police hauled in the suspect following the assault in the Zhongshan Huoju Development Zone in Guangdong province.
The actor, a native of Hong Kong, was appearing at the opening of a new shop in China.
The suspect's motive is still unclear.
Jolie, who played Lara Croft, previously praised her former co-star. She told the Blackfilm website in an interview about her favorite scene to shoot in The Cradle of Life, "I loved the fight with Simon Yam."
Yam, who is married with a daughter, has appeared in more than 125 movies and 40 television series.
