Wendy Williams' son has been arrested for simple assault after a physical altercation with his father near the family's home in New Jersey, RadarOnline.com can confirm.

The Essex County Prosecutor told RadarOnline.com that Kevin Hunter Jr., 18, was handcuffed and taken into custody by the West Orange Police Department following the fight on Thursday, May 21 at 9:50 pm.

"He was given a summons, and this is a matter that will be handled in family court," a spokesperson for the prosecutor's office revealed.

West Orange police say an investigation is currently pending following the incident.

A source with knowledge of the situation told RadarOnline.com Kevin Sr., 46, put his son into a headlock to calm him down after he became aggressive.

Still, "Kevin Jr. punched his father in the face," the source claimed, adding that it's an "unfortunate" family feud.

Kevin Sr. "loves his son and cares about his future," the source explained. "He wants the best for him."
