Before The Real Housewives of Orange County star Shannon Beador and her ex-husband, David, hashed out a divorce settlement following several days of marathon negotiations, David insisted he never abused his wife during their 17-year marriage, RadarOnline.com can exclusively report.

In Orange County, California court documents obtained exclusively by RadarOnline.com, David’s attorney, Michael Monarch, wrote, “There is no record of domestic violence,” in a lengthy trial brief that was filed before both sides were scheduled to face off in a court trial concerning spousal support and other issues.

David’s trial brief, however, did not mention that an Orange County judge in 2003 signed a restraining order to protect Shannon from David just three months after he was charged with assault and battery "against a cohabitant." (The assault case was eventually dismissed.)

According to documents obtained exclusively by RadarOnline.com, a judge signed off on the protective order on May 1, 2003.

The alleged abuse was not discussed in open court last week, and Shannon and David never went to trial after David agreed to cough up $10,000 per month for his ex-wife and their three daughters.

Under the settlement agreement, David also agreed to pay Shannon $1.4 million.

In the trial brief, the attorney also argued David was overpaying for support under a temporary court order, which the attorney said did not accurately reflect Shannon’s various income and recent five percent raise she received in January 2019 from RHOC.

Monarch even quoted from Shannon's deposition, writing, "At her deposition taken just a few days ago on April 16, 2019, this counsel asked the Petitioner how she could afford paying $100,000 for four seats for UCS football this year. Petitioner candidly replied: 'So I decided to bet on myself. I spoke to my accountant and I'm betting on myself that I'm going to be successful on my own and I committed to them.'"

Fortunately for the family, a nasty trial was avoided, and a source told RadarOnline.com David is "happy" with the settlement reached a year and a half after they first split. He now plans to marry longtime girlfriend Lesley Cook.

Shannon also appears happy and hotter than ever — the star is currently on a "divorce" girls' trip to Miami with RHOC pals Tamra Judge and Vicki Gunvalson.
