A woman plunged to her death from the 18th floor rooftop bar in New York.

Olga Baird, 47, shocked on-lookers when she leapt over the wall at the Monarch bar at the Marriott Courtyard Hotel.

The horror incident happened at the packed bar at around 9.40 pm on Saturday night.

The victim died instantly when she hit an MTA bus parked directly on the street below the bar.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, 71 W. 35th St., at 9:40 p.m.

Baird was at the rooftop bar on Saturday night with her husband, who told police she had suffered from depression and was on medication.

The hotel's website shows photos of the bar, including what appears to be clear window-like barriers that would be difficult to climb over.

She hit the bus with such force that she left a substantial dent on the front of its roof before her body fell onto the street.
