An Iowa man is accused of shocking crime of passion.

Todd Mullis, 42, of Earlville, allegedly killed wife Amy Mullis, 39, with a corn rake.

Investigators have revealed that he carried out the crime after learning she had some affairs.

Shockingly, she told one lover before her death "if he catches me cheating, he might make me disappear."

According to police, Mullis insisted his wife fell on the sharp farming tool while she was helping out with chores on their land.

However, medical examiners found six puncture wounds and noted the rake was four-pronged.

Prior to her death she said the love was lost in their marriage, and told friends she worried her husband could kill her.

Mullis called 911 the day his wife died telling the police that their son found her hunched over, impaled on the corn rake.

He told police he removed the rake and started driving his wife to the hospital.

En route they were met by an ambulance, who rushed Amy to the emergency room, where she was pronounced dead.

The couple got married in 2004 and had three children. However, they began to have issues in 2013, five months before the murder they no longer slept together.

She reportedly started having affairs with one man telling the police Amy had said she wanted to leave her husband but was "scared to death" of her husband.

"If he catches me, he might make me disappear," she told him.

Her husband's iPad allegedly revealed searches for "organs in the body" as well as "killing unfaithful women" and "what happened to cheating spouses in historic Aztec tribes," according to police.

He is being held on $5 million cash bail. He will enter a plea to the charge at a hearing set for March 8, 2019.
