Two weeks after Penny Marshall passed away, the beloved American actress's cause of death has been revealed, RadarOnline.com has learned.
According to a death certificate, the Laverne and Shirley actress died of heart failure. The Blast was the first to report the news. The certificate stated that the actress's heart failure was a result of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
Marshall was 75 years old. The death certificate reportedly reveals that the actress was cremated and her remains are with her sister, Ronny.
The film icon passed away on December 17 in her Hollywood Hills home. She was treated for brain and lung cancer back in 2009.
At the time of her passing, the sitcom star's family reacted to the news.
"Our family is heartbroken over the passing of Penny Marshall. Penny was a tomboy who loved sports, doing puzzles of any kind, drinking milk and Pepsi together and being with her family," a rep told Radar.
In addition to acting, Marshall will also be remembered as a renowned film director. With A League of Their Own, she became the first woman in history to direct a movie that grossed over $100 million.
