An American woman who died after falling from the top deck of a Caribbean cruise ship was allegedly in a violent struggle with a man right beforehand.

However, despite reported eyewitness claims that she had been a fracas with her husband, he's not a suspect, as the Daily Mail has reported.

According to the Aruba newspaper Diario, the female passenger, 52, on the Caribbean cruise of The Royal Princess, was allegedly seen struggling with a man who was choking her.

Then other passengers reportedly saw him throw her over the railing on the 16th deck of the ship. She landed on a lifeboat nine floors below.

It was a gruesome scene as eyewitnesses said that one of the woman's legs was torn off in her fall.

Passenger Logan Tignor saw her death and told CBS News, "It's surreal and I'm kind of traumatized for it. I never would expect that it would happen on vacation."

Another unnamed onlooker said,"'We can literally see the lifeboat from our room. Blood and broken glass all over it."

The victim's husband, who is also American, was removed from the ship by Aruban investigators on Tuesday morning and the FBI is reportedly also on the case.

An autopsy report is pending but the death is being treated as unnatural.

The names of the woman and her husband have not been released.

No arrests have been made.

But one passenger has insisted, "It was two passengers they had a row in the casino that night. The gossip on board is rife. We were all woken at 4:30 a.m. by a security alert by the captain."

Princess Cruises said in a statement, "Princess Cruises can confirm that a 52-year-old American female guest passed away early yesterday morning aboard Royal Princess as the ship was en route to Aruba.

However, it's just the latest cruise ship horror as there have been many disturbing incidents at sea recently.

As RadarOnline.com reported, the FBI arrested Kenneth for the killing, a crime he allegedly committed on the Emerald cruise ship because Kristy "wouldn't stop laughing at him."

Kenneth is set to go on trial next year.

There have been also been a rash of rapes, murder, and freak accidents on cruise ships.

A woman on board a Carnival Cruise Line ship reportedly died after she fell from her cabin's balcony earlier this year.

The ship was traveling on a four-day trip from Jacksonville, Florida, to the Bahamas.
