Julie Who? Rosie O’Donnell May Join ‘The Talk’ As New Co-Host

Could Rosie O’Donnell be making a triumphant return to daytime television?
A source told Rob Shuter and the Straight Shuter! podcast that the comedian, who stirred up controversy as co-host on ABC’s The View, could be heading to The Talk now that Julie Chen has resigned from the CBS show.
“It feels like every lady in Hollywood wants to replace Julie,” a source said. “It’s the best job on TV. The hours are great — and the money’s even better!”
While everyone’s clamoring for the plum position, producers are looking to bring in an A-list talent.
“They don’t want to just pick up somebody from a reality show or someone that we don’t know to replace Julie Chen,” noted the source. “This is their opportunity to get a star on the show.”
And while there are lots of names popping up as potential hosts, O’Donnell is at the top of the shortlist so far.

“Rosie is great TV — love or hate her she brings in the ratings and she gets a ton of buzz and press,” said the source.
But O’Donnell, 56, taking the job isn’t quite a done deal.
“It’s a long shot,” said the source. “Rosie has not said yes yet, but that’s the type of person that The Talk wants to bring on.”
