Kelly Osbourne 1 Year Sober After Dark Past Of Drugs, Booze & Hard Partying
Kelly Osbourne is celebrating one year sober after a long dark past of drugs, booze, seven rehabs, two mental institutions and hard partying.
The starlet announced the big milestone in a lengthy post on her Instagram page, which read in part:
"This past year has been one of the hardest years of my life and I feel it’s time share that with you guys. To cut a long story short things got really dark," Osbourne, 33, began.
She recalled a time where she reached rock bottom. "I gave up on everything in my life but most of all I gave up on myself. The only way I knew how to function was to self medicate and go from project to project so I never had to focus on what was really going on with me."
As fans know, the celebrity spawn struggled with substance abuse for years, having gone to a whopping seven rehabs and two mental institutions.
“I knew if I didn’t get help, I would die,” Osbourne frankly told People magazine of her drug troubles in 2009.
She got clean that February after completing a rehab stint for drug and alcohol addiction, but it was not long after that the fashionista was back on the bottle.
Party pals told RadarOnline.com exclusively at the time once Osbourne gets alcohol in her system the claws come out in full force.
The 33-year-old is notorious in Hollywood for getting into crazed spats with people in public.
Just two years ago she was caught in a drunken meltdown in Hollywood.
Amid her parents’ marital the former reality star famously caused a scene at L.A.’s Sunset Marquis hotel, after she unleashed a drunken rant.
Osbourne revealed in her book Fierce that she became addicted to drug at just 16 after being offered pills of the drug by an acquaintance.
"I was relaxed, tingly and happy. The next morning, I called the guy and bought two or three pills for about $20," she wrote.
Her addiction grew even worse when her mom Sharon was diagnosed with cancer in 2002.
"I was trying to stay strong so I took Vicodin to hide the terrible sadness. But by this point, I was waking up and emptying six Vicodin into my hand.
Soon I was taking 50 pills a day. Most people would overdose on ten."
In the emotional post on Thursday, Sharon and Ozzy's daughter thanked her family and brother Jack for their support while adding: "I still don’t know who the f**k I am or what the f**k I want but I can hole heartedly confess that I’m finally at peace with myself and truly starting to understand what true happiness is. I’m sorry if I let anyone down it was just time for me to work on me! I love you guys!"
