Britain's Got Talent finalist Simonne Kerr is dead at age 31. The songstress was pronounced dead in her London home just after 12:30p.m. on Tuesday, August 15.
According to Metropolitan police, the singer was found with a stab wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Forty-year-old Desmond Slyva, who lived with Kerr, was charged with her murder on Thursday, August 16. The Guardian reported he did not enter a plea during his hearing at Wimbledon magistrates court on Friday, August 17. He remains in custody and has a court date on August 21.
Kerr performed with the NHS choir group B Positive, which is a group made of vocalists who have sickle cell anemia or have loved ones with the disease. The group made it to the finale in June as the Wild Card Act.
The nurse joined the group after her son Kavele, 6, died from the disease.
A spokesperson for Britain's Got Talent told Huffington Post in a statement, "We are deeply saddened and shocked to hear that Simonne Kerr has died. Our thoughts and condolences are with Simonne's family and friends during this difficult and devastating time."
