Kerr performed with the NHS choir group B Positive, which is a group made of vocalists who have sickle cell anemia or have loved ones with the disease. The group made it to the finale in June as the Wild Card Act.

The nurse joined the group after her son Kavele, 6, died from the disease.

A spokesperson for Britain's Got Talent told Huffington Post in a statement, "We are deeply saddened and shocked to hear that Simonne Kerr has died. Our thoughts and condolences are with Simonne's family and friends during this difficult and devastating time."
