Demi Lovato's Best Friend & Backup Dancer Dani Speaks Out For First Time Since OD
Demi Lovato's best friend and backup dancer, Dani Vitale is peaking out for the first time since the singer's life-threatening overdose.
This Sunday, the red head wrote a lengthy Twitter statement defending herself from online haters who blame her for Lovato's OD, and detailing exactly how she feels after the scare.
"I care about Demi just like all of you do. I have not said anything about this situation until now because her recovery has been of the most importance," she wrote.
RadarOnline.com readers know the "Tell Me You Love Me" singer, 25, was sent to a hospital near her Hollywood Hills home last Tuesday, July 24, after her assistant failed to wake her up following a night of hard partying and called 911.
Lovato fans soon began blaming Vitale for the overdose, and the singer was celebrating the dancer's birthday when it happened.
"I was not with Demi when the incident happened, but I am with her now, and will continue to be because she means the world to me just as she does to all of you," added Vitale, 28.
"Like all of you, I have nothing but love in my heart for her. There is no need for any negativity towards the ones who care about Demi at this time. There is too much of it in this world as it is."
A source exclusively told RadarOnline.com that "Dani and Demi have known each other for a long time, and are very close." The insider added that Vitale spent the entire day at the hospital with Lovato after her drug overdose and looked "very upset." Unlike her star BFF, the dancer has always been very straight-edge and doesn't do any drugs.

"I know you're all feeling lost without her at this moment in time," Vitale continued in her Twitter statement. "Remember that you have always been a community of Lovatics who LOVE. Please remember that when you take out your phones and start typing. Remember that we all love her more than we can ever put into words. Please continue to send her love during her recovery."
For now, Lovato's career is on hold and she is reportedly heading to rehab.
