In this week's episode of Little People Big World, pumpkin season for the Roloff family farm has come to an end. Just as Matt Roloff and girlfriend Caryn Chandler get ready for their romantic Arizona getaway, an opportunity for Matt to run for Oregon state senate unexpectedly arises.

"Some friend of mine — a legislator here — think's I'll be a good candidate to run for state senator," Matt told the cameras. "It's something I'm thinking about. It's a big honor."

"I've dabbled in politics here and there and I'm passionate about some of the issues, but it's also a huge sacrifice," Matt added. "The commitment you can't take lightly."

But when Amy caught word of Matt's political endeavors, she cautioned him that his past could come back to haunt him — referring to his past DUI charges.

You've always fooled around with politics, but with politics you're past comes up," Amy said.

Matt told Amy that he would head down to Arizona with Caryn to relax and do some thinking about his future.

"Matt talks about political office, I don't pretend that I can even keep up with him," Amy told cameras. "Obviously there's a lot of uncertainty with the farm and everything. This also affects me as well."

While Matt and Caryn were down in Surprise, Arizona, they discussed the sacrifice he would be making by running for senate. They also talked about how it could affect their relationship.

Matt revealed to Caryn that the state senate seat would require a two-year commitment.

"I know you can do it, and you can do it brilliantly," Caryn told Matt. "But it's about… 'is that where I want to spend the time?'"

In the end, Matt loved the possibility of being in the senate, but acknowledged that his relationship with Caryn was more important and made the decision to not to run. Instead, he decided to focus his attention on buying property in Arizona.

"The idea that owning a place in Arizona is very exciting to me," Matt admitted. "Caryn and I are looking to invest in property down there. Amy and I have a lot of assets in the farm, so it's really important that I start investing some of my personal money off the farm and really just having my own path that's separate from Amy."

"I feel very committed to Caryn. Caryn and I are going on this adventure together, we are on this great track. So the idea of us having a vacation home that we share together, it's interesting. I think we are going to take our relationship to the next level."

As Amy came to terms with the idea of ex-husband Matt leaving the farm with Caryn, she began to wonder whether she should depart as well.

"When I walk around the farm there is a whole gamut of thoughts and emotions and memories," a somber Amy recalled. "With Matt talking about political office and moving down to Arizona during the winter time. There's not as much certainty as to what are the new memories that are going to be created here on the farm. I often reflect about what the farm was. I raised the kids and we've had a family, and all the projects, the birthday parties, some of the Christmases. There was a lot of memories here."

"Knowing that the family life that I thought I would have until I die, which was being married to Matt didn't work out, does make me sad, absolutely. But I can't live for that anymore. Whatever Matt may decide, some of these decisions affect me and my life because I can't run the farm without him. Being an at home mom didn't really prepare me for this stage of my life to begin again. I wish I would've taken a little more time just for myself. I didn't really develop anything just for me for this moment that I'm in right now. That will be my only regret."

"I consider this my home. It's the only home I've ever known in Oregon. But to move on is still a thought I'd have to consider," Amy added. "Maybe it's time. Maybe it's time to just go."

Next on Little People, Big World, Amy and Matt make the tough decision on whether to sell the farm and the Roloff kids are not too happy about it!
