Jacob Roloff Reveals REAL Reason He Quit Family's 'Ridiculous' Show In New Tell-All
Former Little People, Big World star Jacob Roloff is laying it all out on the table when it comes to his family — and the real reason he left the show with no plans of ever returning.
In his new tell all book Out To See obtained by RadarOnline.com, Amy and Matt's 21-year-old son reveals he was having difficulty finding himself as he was forced to grow up with the world watching.
"Among so many things, I simply did not want this ridiculous reality TV to use up so much of my time, lest it leave too deep an imprint on my ability to influence the world otherwise," the black sheep sibling admits in the book, out today. "I did not want this imposition to become my identity, and so I rebelled in the manner that I did, and eventually exited the show."
Jacob adds that the reality show turned his family members into "shallow" characters.
"The entire concept of reality TV is strange because, as a viewer, you are subscribing to a particular illusion — that you are witnessing and being let in on the secrets of the subjects' lives," he says. "In reality you are being shown a shallow character and only what someone else approves of, in relation to narrative and talking points."
"This was my meaning in saying the 'Roloff Characters' in the past; not that the real people are characters or deliberately acting; but whichever Roloff you think you know is in a fact shown character—sculpted specifically to entice and convince you to keep this channel on."
Jacob, who left the TLC show in 2014 after nearly a decade, has slammed the show many times in recent years.
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Jacob slammed the show as "staged" and "fake" in a 2017 blog post.

Two years prior, he shocked fans by claiming he was "f**ked" out of money from the show in a Twitter post.
After a years-long feud, Jacob eventually reconciled with his famous parents, and now remains close to the clan despite their differences.
