Colin Farrell has checked back into rehab, RadarOnline.com has learned, but friends swear the actor is completely clean and sober, and the visit is merely “preemptive.”

According to US Weekly, who broke the news, Farrell, 41, checked into rehab at The Meadows in Wickenburg, Arizona last week.

“He put himself in there. It was voluntary,” a source told US. “He was not using again, but needed to do a little reset and get things back in alignment to make sure he doesn’t use again.”

The True Detective heartthrob has been sober for more than a decade after battling addiction during his younger years.

It wasn’t until a final bender while filming the big screen adaptation of Miami Vice that Farrell decided to confront his demons and check into treatment.

He opened up about his stint on The Late Late Show in 2013.

Miami Vice wrapped … and I was put on a plane and sent to rehab,” he explained at the time. “I had quite a high tolerance for various drugs for years, I thought. It accumulated to the point where I couldn’t put my foot on the brake anymore.”
