Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Ex-The Real Housewives of Orange County star Slade Smiley, who is trying for an IVF baby with his fiancée and former co-star Gretchen Rossi, has revealed his private pain about his grown son.

Smiley told Page Six about his boy Grayson, who is still fighting brain cancer, "He's hanging in there. He recently turned 17, praise the Lord."

Grayson is Smiley's son from a previous relationship, and the reality TV star said, "He does have a lot of complications, but he's in regular physical therapy. We have school come to the house, so he's actually really looking good. Really, really good. I'm pretty excited."

As RadarOnline.com reported in 2010, Smiley, 44, was in a battle over child support payments with Grayson's mom, Michelle Arroyo when he reportedly claimed he couldn't find a job. He was labelled a deadbeat dad at the time.

But back then, Rossi defended him on her website, saying that the amount of child support he had to pay each month was "extremely large" and based on an income he had made four years before.

"His income is no where near what it used to be," she said, adding that Smiley's son Grayson had more than $3 million in medical procedures since he was battling brain cancer- payments Rossi claimed Smiley was making.

Grayson was first diagnosed with the cancer in 2006.

Smiley has another son Gavin, 27, who recently got engaged.

Now, the former RHOC star's fiancé Rossi, 39, is fighting a desperate battle to have her first child with Smiley. She recently revealed they are exploring IVF.

Rossi told the Daily Mail, "God willing, I can get pregnant in 2018!"

She added, "It is no secret that we tried IVF in the past and Slade also had his vasectomy reversed but we are going to try again to see if we can get pregnant."

Smiley told Page Six, "I tend to have children every 10 years."
