Teresa Giudice claims she’s a changed woman after filing for bankruptcy and getting slammed with dozens of counts of fraud. She even spent the last episode of Real Housewives of New Jersey hunting for a cheaper home — which is why eagle-eyed fans were shocked to see her carrying a $2,400 Valentino purse during the outing! Only RadarOnline.com has all the details of her shocking style choice — and why it might not have been such a flagrant insult to her creditors as it seemed at first glance.

As somber Giudice shopped for properties with her daughter, Gia, on Sunday night’s episode, she could be seen carrying the “Rockstud medium leather trapeze bag” from the Italian designer’s most recent collection. It retails for roughly $2,400.

Since Giudice’s $13.5 million bankruptcy was just settled earlier this month, was she thumbing her nose to her creditors? Not quite.

An insider insists, "Teresa was given a Valentino handbag by producers of the show to use for filming. They wanted her to look extremely wealthy while looking for a new house, especially because she was downsizing.”

Still, the source reveals, "The purse was on loan but Teresa expected to keep it. When producers told her she had to give it back, she wasn't happy about it at all!”

Giudice is expected in court with her husband Joe on October 2 for sentencing in their fraud case.
