Khloe Kardashian and beau French Montana are “on a break," RadarOnline.com has learned, as a source said that their “relationship got too heavy and Khloe needed to take a step back."

The source told US Weekly that the youngest of the three Kardashian sisters, who was snapped running errands in her native Los Angeles Tuesday, was the one to initiate the (temporary?) split, in her first major relationship since her divorce from embattled NBA player Lamar Odom last year.

A separate source told the magazine that the "needy" 29-year-old rapper “grated on” Khloe with his clinginess, as he “became so dependent on her.”

The first insider said that Khloe "just wants time apart from him” for now; a factor working against the rapper seems to be the lack of an endorsement from Khloe’s mother Kris Jenner, who “told Khloe all the time,” how she "did not approve” of the relationship.

The outspoken beauty didn’t show any outward signs of distress during the trying time in her love life, as she barreled through a series of chores on Tuesday: sweating in the gym, then hitting up the grocery store, where she purchased enough watermelons to fill up her shopping cart.
