Kate Middleton’s phone was hacked by British tabloid News of the World while she was dating Prince William, a prosecutor told a London court Thursday.

In one voicemail message that William left Kate, the prince calls his future wife "Babykins" and says he was almost shot by blank rounds during a military training exercise, the British Press Association reported.

The transcript, dug up during a police investigation into the newspaper's alleged hacking practices, was one of several messages between the couple that were read at London's Old Bailey court. The date of the messages weren’t immediately clear.

Three messages read out Thursday were left while William was attending Sandhurst military academy. He and Kate married in 2011.

One message from William begins with the words: "Hi baby. Um, sorry, I've just got back in off my night navigation exercise."

He continues: "I had a busy day today again. I've been running around the woods of Aldershot chasing shadows and getting horribly lost, and I walked into some other regiment's ambush, which was slightly embarrassing because I nearly got shot.

“Not by live rounds but by blank rounds, which would have been very embarrassing, though."

Seven people, including former News of the World editors Andy Coulson and Rebekah Brooks, are on trial on charges related to wrongdoing at the defunct Rupert Murdoch-owned newspaper.

All are accused of conspiring between October 2000 and August 2006 "to intercept communications in the course of their transmission, without lawful authority." They deny the charges.
